We have received reports of NEFCU/VSECU impersonation scams targeting our members. Fraudsters have been calling or texting members posing as our fraud department and are questioning potential suspicious charges. They are asking identifying “security questions”, prying for digital banking login information, and giving members a phone number that starts with *72 to call to add additional protection to their cards. Dialing a phone number that starts with *72 activates call forwarding on the member’s phone.

This is a scam. Remember that we will NEVER ask for your Digital Banking login credentials, full debit or credit card number, or the CVV code from the back of your card. DO NOT provide this information, or any other personal banking information, in response to a call, text, or email.

If you receive a call or text claiming to be from New England Federal Credit Union or VSECU and are asked for any of the information listed above, do not respond. Hang up and call us directly at 800.400.8790 to report it to us immediately.
